So I finally have news about what my next book will be–after the Croak trilogy is over, that is (which: sadness). We’re talking 2014 here, so it’s going to be a bit of a wait. But still, I’m going to write it. And hopefully you will read it.
Because it’s about THE DEVIL.
Well, a devil. Specifically, one that pops up from a hole in the ground and eats a lot of junk food and watches a lot of reality television and plays a lot of video games, all while crashing in the basement of a hapless teenager named Max, who must somehow figure out a way to get rid of the guy without incurring the wrath of hell. Good times! Bring the kids!
The title is HELLHOLE, it will be published by my buddies over at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and it will be a standalone (as opposed to the start of a series). That’s pretty much all I can say about it for now; the Publishers Marketplace announcement is listed below, for those who like to read those sort of things. But that’s all in the distant future anyway–all you need to do for the moment is get excited about Rogue, which is coming out in less than four short months! Ack! Holy cow! Sweet sassy molassy! and so forth.
From the author of the CROAK series, Gina Damico’s HELLHOLE, about a nerdy teenage boy who inadvertently opens a gate to hell and is forced to make a deal with the obnoxious slacker devil who pops out and refuses to leave his basement, to Julie Tibbott at Harcourt by Tina Wexler at ICM (North America).
